There were a few clouds overhead this morning, but overall, the sky was fairly clear. When I went outside to get the newspaper, I looked to the east and saw a beautiful crescent moon sliver and either a star or a planet a little bit above the moon, against a just-starting-to-get-light sky. This photograph was taken a little later, at about 7 AM, from the east side of the Sunshine Skyway approach. As it happened, there were some clouds very low in the sky that stopped me from seeing the sun directly as it rose above the horizon, but the colors and the rays that came about because of the clouds were stunning! And, if you look really closely, you can still see the tiny crescent moon and the star above it. Click on the picture if you’d like to see the full-sized image.

Oh, wow! Bob, this photo is absolutely amazing!!! Your “photo opportunity” tag is an understatement!
Bob – what a magnificent photo! Thank you for sharing your photos and great comments about St Pete and its lifestyle.
Thank you, Tami. I’m having way too much fun getting some of these pictures! I was honestly floored when I saw those rays coming up into the sky, but I was afraid that they would not show up in the photo. Needless to say, I was very pleased that they did!
Thanks, Sharon. I appreciate your response and I’m especially honored to have the positive feedback from such a well-respected Real Estate magnate (not to mention blogger!)…
I’m having a good time doing the posts; I just need to become a little bit more efficient in terms of time spent on it!
Wow! What a gorgeous shot! I think I may have to beg for a framed version on my birthday…
